CAMPAIGNERS trying to save six Brentlibraries are pursuing other options while they await the SupremeCourts decision on their right to appeal.

Sinceits High Court defeat against Brent Councils decision to close half ofthe boroughs libraries, members of Brent Save Our Six Libraries havebeen making efforts to provide some library services while it waits fora decision on whether it can appeal to the Supreme Court.

Thefriends of Barham Library, one of the closed facilities, is pursing theoption of opening a pop up library, and is appealing for donations ofbooks, CDs, and DVDs in good condition. It iss due to hold a meetingabout this on Wednesday.

BrentSOS has also sent letters and petitions to MPs investigating theclosure of libraries and hopes Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt MP willhold a public inquiry into the closures.

BrentSOS spokesman Samantha Warrington said: Brent SOS Libraries is waitingfor leave to appeal to the Supreme Court in this landmark case.

Thisweek we submitted our evidence of the harm done to communities in Brentby the councils closure of half of its libraries. This includes morethan 2,000 letters from adults and children who have been affected andpetitions with more than 12,000 signatures.
