After 12 wards out of 21 have been announced at Brent Council Labour hold 30 seats.

Votes for the local elections were being counted over night at the Civic Centre in Wembley and the Liberal Democrats currently have no seats and the Conservatives hold six.

Incumbent leader Muhammed Butt held on to his seat in Tokyngton ward along with fellow councillor Ketan Sheth, who was reelected, and Orleen Hylton, a new addition to the council.

Mr Butt said: "I am glad that the people of Brent have once again chosen to put their trust in us. There are a lot of new councillors who will be joining us and who will be helping us to deliver a much improved Brent, hopefully with better engagement and we will be listening to what the residents want."

The Conservatives took Brondesbury Park with Carol Shaw, Joel Davidson and John Warren being elected and Kenton with Reg Colwill, Suresh Kansagra and Bhiku Patel.

All other wards which have been announced, Dudden Hill, Kensal Green, Wembley Central, Queens Park, Tokyngton, Queensbury, Alperton, Welsh Harp, Barnhill, Willesden Green and Harlesden are now fully Labour-controlled.
