Ron Rider of The Greenway, Uxbridge, and Michael Hawkins of Maple Cross, were joint winners of The Fustin Cup for the first swimmers to complete a length in the new season of Uxbridge Lido.

Watching the hardy pair - who braved 4 degree C water - was John Mayo of Larne Road, Ruislip, who won the trophy in 1956 and 1957, when victory brought a free season ticket.
