THE THREE-year-old boy killed in a fatal collision as he crossed the road to go and play in the park has been named.

Mohamed Mohamed was crossing Kingshill Avenue, in Northolt close to Yeading, yesterday (Monday) at around 12.20pm when he was reportedly struck by a recovery vehicle.

It has been reported that Mohamed, of Somali descent, was with his father who was taking him to the park when ran out into the road.

London's Air Ambulance were called to the scene, and Mohamed was rushed to hospital, but he later died.

A post mortem held this morning (Tuesday) at Uxbridge Mortuary gave the cause of death as a head injury.

Police want witnesses to the accident to come forward and assist with their investigation.

A family friend and neighbour said that the boy was the youngest in a Muslim family of four children, with a four-year-old and two teenage sisters.

She said the father was about to take him to the park when he ran ahead quickly out of the door and was knocked over immediately.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: He wanted to go and play in the park. "The driver tried to break and all the neighbours came out. People said they heard the noise of the breaking, saw the boy and saw the mother crying.

"I was inside afterwards with the sisters and they were all crying and could not stop, it was horrible."

Ricky Gates, of Kingshill Avenue, said the road was not safe.

"The number of accidents and deaths that happen on this road is unreal. The traffic comes down so fast, this road definitely needs speed cameras.

An inquest will open and adjourn today at West London Coroner's Court.

No one has been arrested yet, but the Road Death Investigation Unit at Northolt is investigating.
