A 10-year-old boy has died following a road traffic collision in Southall.

Police were called at about 11.24am yesterday to reports of a collision between a car and a child cyclist on Merrick Road, Southall.

The boy was taken to hospital suffering serious injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police are awaiting formal identification and confirmation that next of kin have been informed before the boy is named.

Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton are investigating. Anyone who witnessed the incident should call police on 020 8998 5319.

The driver stopped at the scene. There have been no arrests.
