BORIS Johnson tried out state-of-the-art motion capture technology on a visit to Ealing studios earlier today.

The London mayor dropped in on Imaginarium, the special effects studios unit jointly owned by Andy Serkis, based at the studios in Ealing Green.

Boris used the visit to announce his new investment in the capital’s film, television and animation industries.

He is expanding the remit of Film London, hoping to bring in £200million worth of extra spending in the capital through TV and animation production and create 1,000 industry jobs. He will invest £2m to broaden Film London’s reach, with £750,000 earmarked to promote the development of these sectors.

He said: “It’s time for London to fulfil its potential as the world leader and employer it’s destined to be in this field.”
