THE Mayor of London visited the Brent and Harrow Conservatives to honour the launch of their GLA candidate Sachin Rajput.

More than 250 Conservatives met for a fund raising dinner at Dil Se Lounge, South Harrow, and were entertained with a speech from the Mayor, Councillor Rajput and MP for Harrow East Bob Blackman.

Boris Johnson was a popular speaker and talked passionately about the new Metropolitan line trains and revealed they are capable of being run without a driver in the future.

He championed Mr Rajput's candidacy for the Greater London Assembly in next May's elections and called him an "excellent" person for the job.

Canons ward councillor Husain Akhtar said: "The function was very well attended and very productive. Councillor Rajput is a young man with lots of energy and is very good the political cause. He has a lot of experience in gaining votes in the area and he will serve Brent and Harrow very well."
