LONDON Mayor Boris Johnson is encouraging people in Harrow to grow their own food.

The Capital Growth scheme, which aims to create 2,012 growing spaces in London by the end of the year, is launching a food growing competition, Grow for Gold.

Last year two groups in Harrow received a total of £624 to help them start community food growing spaces this year.

The scheme will give away money to more groups interested in growing their own food.
