TENNIS champion Boris Becker will start the Olympic Torch relay on top of Northala Fields tonight, followed by a headline performance from singer Loick Essien in Walpole Park.

The former German tennis player, who was the youngest man to win at Wimbledon in 1985, will kick off proceedings when the Olympic torch convoy arrives in Northolt from Hillingdon at 5pm.

He will carry the flame down the highest mount in Northala Fields and hand it over to Chemmy Alcott who is famed for putting skiing on the map in countries not known for its winters. She has represented Britain in alpine skiing in three Winter Olympics and seven World Championships.

Other top names to take part in today's historic event include top ten singer Loick Essien who will light up the stage for the evening party in Walpole Park from 5pm. Street dance duo Twist and Pulse, runners-up in Britain's Got Talent 2010, will also perform to a crowd of 8,000.
