CONGRATULATIONS to Cllr Gurcharan Singh, Southall's prospective Tory parliamentary candidate, for the coverage he has gained for himself over the issue of Ealing Hospital's stroke services.
Your readers may be interested to know that Gurcharan's adopted party are committed to £10billion of spending cuts. This means not only the end of the local stroke unit but a return to hundreds of patients lying on trolleys because of a lack of hospital beds.
For the record, Southall's Labour MP Virendra Sharma has taken the following action to try and secure the future of Ealing hospital's stroke unit: held a meeting with the trust's chair and chief executive; raised the issue with Health Secretary and Healthcare for London (and will arrange meetings between them, the hospital and local people); urged his constituents in his latest annual report to respond to the HfL consultation; raised the matter in Parliament by tabling an Early Day Motion and requesting an adjournment debate.
Finally, Gurcharan Singh states that he is "very concerned about the future of the hospital". Sorry, Gurcharan, but the only thing you are concerned about is your ego.
In a year from now, when you've lost both your council seat and your bid to enter Parliament, that ego is going to be severely deflated.
