A strategy consultant has scooped the National UK Blog Award in a ceremony dubbed ‘The Oscars of the blogging world.’
Greg Dillon, 29, of Park View Road, Ealing, set up his blog Strat Talking 18 months ago and has now won the inaugural PR, Media and Communications Individual award at this event.
Over 1,000 blogs were nominated and 16,000 public votes cast, however Mr Dillon’s creation, in response to his belief that there is limited information on how you progress a career as a strategy consultant or someone who is in a design agency, came top.
The blog is for anyone within marketing and looks into freelance business management.
It offers advice and ideas, giving freelancers details they need to make a success of their career.
Mr Dillon, who owns his own company GD Inspires, said: “I was incredibly proud of the achievement, you never expect that.
“The main thing for me when setting it up was keeping it honest.
“The name is a play on straight-talking and strategy.
“My father set up his own business in his 20s so as I grew up I was in the entrepreneurial environment and this has spurred me on to try and do it again next year.”
The awards ceremony took place on April 25 at The Grange, St Pauls, London, was judged by a panel of experts and included 14 separate categories.
