A LONG-RUNNING scout group is without its troop flag after it was stolen from the group scout leader's car.

Michael Brazier, of the 1st Hayes Scouts, discovered that the club's St George's flag, Union Jack and Company flag, along with other personal items, had been taken from his car parked outside his Uxbridge home, on the evening of October 9.

The group meet each week in Balmoral Drive, Hayes.

It is the longest surviving scout group in the borough, and celebrated its 85th anniversary last month with a special camping trip.

The flags are raised when the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts go on camp, and for special events.

Mr Brazier said: "I can't understand why anybody would go to the trouble of stealing these flags, they aren't worth anything. It's such a shame.

"It would be great if they could be returned to us, as they are not cheap, and they are of no use to anybody."

The 1st Hayes Scouts are based at 213 Balmoral Drive, Hayes, UB4 0AA.

If you know of the whereabouts of the flags, call secretary Melissa Jones on 020 8841 3205.
