MORE than a year after a pensioner was murdered in Queensbury fresh CCTV footage and a £20,000 reward have been issued in a renewed bid to catch her killer.

Policemen investigating the murder of 81-year-old Molly Morgan were at the Streatfield Road scene on Friday last week, where she was mugged and dragged to the ground, suffering fatal injuries.

They were carrying out door-to-door inquiries and were joined by Mrs Morgan's daughter Hilary Underwood, who is still desperately seeking justice.

The 52-year-old issued a heartfelt appeal to get people to come forward with information, she said: "The last year has been incredible difficult for me and I have constantly suffered with terrible grief.

"All the time I want to tell my mum about something and I have to come to terms with the fact I will never have the opportunity to speak to her again. I miss her to bits.

"The police have been absolutely wonderful and we just want to reach someone who might have some information.

"Not just because I want justice for my mum, but because whoever did this could still be out there.

"Imagine if your mum or grandmother was his next target."

It is hoped that the release of CCTV footage, which shows the widow shopping in Morrisons, in Honeypot Lane, just hours before she was attacked, will jog people in the areas memories.

Detective Chief Inspector Jessica Wadsworth, who is leading the ongoing investigation, added: "This investigation is absolutely still active and we are still working hard to get justice for Molly.
"As the CCTV footage shows, although she was independent, she was obviously a defenceless and extremely vulnerable old lady that was targeted because of this.

"Someone always knows something and even people in the criminal world realise that this kind of attack is simply wrong and we are urging anyone with any information to give us any information they have."

Mrs Morgan was walking to a lecture on January 15 last year at Kenton Library when she was attacked, at around 7.40pm.

Her killer snatched her detailed floral handbag containing a brown and gold Primark umbrella, an empty Sainsbury's carrier bag, and an extension cord, sending her hurtling to the ground.

She died early the next day, and none of the contents of the bag other than the extension cord, or the bag itself, have ever been recovered.

Police are urging anyone with information to call 0208 358 0300, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
