A SCHOOL has achieved its highest ever GCSE exam results yet, with record breaking figures.

Bentley Wood High School in Bridges Road, Stanmore, broke its record for GCSE results this year - 77 per cent of students achieved five or more A* to C including English and maths, and 86 per cent of students achieved five or more GCSE's with grades C or above.

Teachers were particularly delighted with the exceptional achievement in English and maths.

Two of the school's star performers were Shereen Abedi-Grainger, who got 12 A*s and one A, and Kayathrie Atputharajah, who got 11 A*s and two ABestrs. Both will be continuing at Bentley Wood Sixth Form with Shereen studying maths, further maths, chemistry, economics and philosophy and Kayathrie studying maths, chemistry, economics and geography.

Headteacher Janice Howkins said: "We are so pleased that the girls have achieved so highly, this is all credit to their hard work and to the tremendous work by teaching and support staff. Like a family we want every member to do as well as possible and get the very best start in life."
