A RECORD 97 per cent of Northwood School students gained five or more A*-C grades, 73 per cent of those including English and Maths.

Deputy Headteacher, Mark Anderson, said: “These outstanding results affirm Northwood’s status as a high performing, academically successful school.

“As delighted as I am with them, they come as no surprise because they reflect the outstanding teaching and learning that I see on a daily basis throughout the year.”

Both outcomes are significantly above the national averages and represent the fifth successive year of improvement at Northwood.

Students achieving excellent individual success include success include Daniel Simpson, who gained four A*s and seven As, Khin Tin, who gained three A*s and seven As, and Max Harper, who gained  one A* and eight As.

Headteacher, Graeme Atkins, said: “Our students benefit from the fact that we are a relatively small secondary school therefore we can devote the one-to-one attention that enables them to achieve as well as they do.

“We are ambitious for them and they in turn are highly motivated to succeed.”
