A MUM from Bedfont claims she got the shock of her life when she cut into a block of cheese and discovered a spider.

Saroj Harbias, of Staines Road, says she was making cheese on toast last Sunday (April 10) when she noticed some legs sticking out.

The 40-year-old mum-of-two then discovered the mini-beast's body embedded in the block of mild cheddar. She claims she bought the own-brand cheese from Tesco in Duke's Green Avenue, Feltham, at the beginning of April.

"When I started grating the cheese there were legs everywhere," said Mrs Harbias, who volunteers for the homeless charity Hestia. The spider itself was about the size of a peanut. We were all feeling really sick and couldn't eat anything."

It is not the first time Mrs Harbia has found something strange in her food. She also claims to have found a moth in a tin of tomato puree from a different store several years ago.

A Spokesman for Tesco said: "If the customer returns the produce to the store from which she bought it, we will investigate fully with our supplier."
