PERFORMERS, friends and victims of bullying joined together for an evening of dance, drama and speeches to raise money and awareness.

Jane Trowbridge helped organise Friday’s event in aid of the Beatbullying charity, through the Pink Sparkles group she runs with other mums, which raises funds throughout the year for children and cancer charities.

Mrs Trowbridge, of Pinner Road, said: “It is something we all feel very strongly about and everyone in the group has different reasons to support this.

“We look for charities we want to support and saw Beatbullying and wanted to help. Even if we help one child tomorrow, I will be happy.

“My daughter goes to Nower Hill and their drama department got involved and we contacted other drama groups in the area. It all spread through word of mouth and we were really pleased with the response.”

Nearly 150 people attended the event at Pinner Village Hall in Chapel Lane and saw a wide variety of performances from children aged from six to 17.

More than £1,000 was raised which will go to the charity to help it eliminate bullying.

Mrs Trowbridge, a mother-of-four, added: “It was quite emotional in parts; it was really uplifting though as well. The kids were so sweet and performed really well. It was a lovely evening.”
