NONE of the people who lost their jobs when an Uxbridge pub closed suddenly have found jobs at other of the chain’s branches.

Baroosh in the town centre ceased trading on January 28 after site owner McMullen brewers, of Herfordshire, announced they had let the site to American burger chain, Five Guys, on a 15 year lease.

Staff were said to have been shocked at the decision which came ‘out of the blue’.

“All Baroosh staff elected to receive a pay off rather than transfer to other sites,” said a spokesperson for McMullen.

“As we do not have any other pubs in Uxbridge this was probably inevitable.”

They said in most cases people received one month’s pay.

The announcement caused a stir on social media, with many people lamenting the loss of one of the town’s ‘classier’ bars.

The pub was also popular for food and was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the first floor was often rented out for social and corporate events.

Five Guys is scheduled to open in the spring.
