BARNET FC has won permission to serve alcohol to supporters in two stands at its new ground at The Hive in Edgware.

Harrow Council's licensing panel approved the licence yesterday evening, imposing 39 conditions to keep the venue in check. The club had modified its application halfway through the consultation period.

The club's existing licence allowed it to serve alcohol in the East Stand but this new one provides for liquor to be supplied in the West Stand only indoors between 12noon and 3am, while outside drinking must cease  by 11pm.

Films and plays can be broadcast indoors from 12noon to 3am and outdoors from 12noon to 10.30pm. Indoor sporting events, live music and recorded music may be held in the West Stand only between 12noon and 3am.

Dance can be performed indoors between 12noon and 3am and outdoors from 12noon to 10.30pm and the club won late night refreshment both indoor and outdoors from 11pm to 3.30am.

The club withdrew the boxing and wrestling aspects of its application.
