I AM becoming increasingly concerned about the health and welfare of my good friend, Greater London Authority member Richard Barnes. Specifically his memory.

In his latest missive to your paper (Why so little cash for London homes?, Letters, March 17) he condemns as 'paltry' the extra 114 affordable homes for London via Kick Start (II).

While I agree that 114 homes for London is not enough, it should be remembered that one of the first things Councillor Barnes did when he became Leader of Hillingdon Council in 1998 was to cancel six affordable home sites across Hillingdon.

Thus, more than 100 affordable homes for Hillingdon residents were lost at the calling of a vote and the stroke of a pen.

I am therefore appealing to Gazette readers to help poor old Mr Barnes remember who he is.

If he knocks on your door sounding worried about the plight of hard working Hillingdon families unable to afford a decent home, just remind him of his pathetic failure to do anything for them other than to make matters worse, and I am sure he will be right as rain in no time.
