A BAR worker who violently murdered a neighbour 13 years ago before taking a job in Hayes has finally been brought to justice.

James Citro, 54, must serve a minimum of 20 years for killing Lithuanian mum-of-two Nijole Siskeviciene (pictured), who was found outside a garage near her home in Lancelot Crescent, Wembley, on October 20 1998.

Ms Siskeviciene, 44, had moved in only six days before being tied up, sexually assaulted and strangled by Citro.

He had lived a few doors down from his victim, and after the crime, he worked in bars in Hayes, Ealing and Essex before moving to Weston-Super-Mare in 2002. He would later change his name.

He also wrote two anonymous letters to police implicating ‘two black men’, eight days after Nijole’s body was found.

Citro’s fingerprints were found on the letters, and police linked him to the murder after matching his DNA and prints for an unrelated offence in Somerset in 2010.

Citro was jailed for life at the Old Bailey on Friday, and also admitted two counts of perverting the course of justice.
