LOCAL charity Action Acton has won a prestigious award for running the best employment project in London.

Action Acton has won the European Social Fund (ESF) Leadership Award for linking voluntary organisations with the Ealing One Stop Shop Job Network project. The project gives the unemployed and those on the breadline help to get back into the workplace. This includes using local mentors, one-to-one support, workshops and a referral network.

Nicky Robertson-Peek, Action Acton project manager said: "Working with a consortium of local voluntary groups to help out of work Ealing residents has been challenging, but very rewarding. We have achieved excellent results by working together to benefit members of Ealing’s diverse communities. Using groups working together in consortiums to tackling unemployment is the way forward and Action Acton is leading this approach."

Brendon Walsh, Ealing Council Director of Property & Regeneration said: "Ealing One Stop Jobs Shop Network is a really important project for the borough, enabling residents who need a bit more support to get the right training and skills to find and stay in work.

"The Council is delighted that the project has been recognised with the ESF awards, which demonstrates the important work our voluntary sector does with local residents".
