AUTHOR David Bedford visited Hillside Infant School on Monday to talk to pupils about the skills of story writing.

He also judged a book cover competition, picking a favourite design from each class and awarding prizes.

Pupils have been reading some of Mr Bedford’s stories in the run-up to World Book Day, including George Thing, Knock, Knock! and The Dinosaur Games.

Kate Beatty, deputy headteacher of the school in Northwood, said: “We are always searching for new ways to engage pupils and encourage them to become keen readers and writers. An author visit seemed a wonderful way of achieving this and providing a memorable learning experience.”
