A SUCCESSFUL author paid a visit to his old history teacher and opened a new classroom in the school's English block.
Peter Lang, who is now headteacher of Uxbridge High School, was delighted to see Gautam Malkani, author of Londonstani, when the writer spoke to sixth formers about his achievements.
He read from his book and took searching questions from students, at the school in The Greenway, which he said were tougher than those at literary festivals.
Londonstani is written from the perspective of a young Asian boy growing up in west London and one of the characters is a history teacher, not apparently based on Mr Lang.
However, while being interviewed for the book, Gautam was frequently asked about this, and as a result got back in touch with his former mentor.
Mr Lang said : "Perhaps in some small way as his history teacher I had some influence."
English and media studies students are now going to read his book over the summer.
