PUBS in West Drayton and Harlington may get some respite from a ‘drunk and abusive’ customer now he is the subject of an Asbo.

William O’Neil, of Hubbards Close, Hillingdon, received an anti-social behaviour order barring him from all the borough’s pubs pubs after he was found guilty of possessing a knife blade.

The police request was in response to complaints from shopkeepers and landlords in the south of the borough, where O’Neil regularly went when he was drunk. He would demand to be sold alcohol and intimidate customers.

The terms of the Asbo also bar O’Neil, 31, from Heathrow Airport unless he has a ticket, and from Hillingdon Hospital, unless he needs treatment, and forbids him from being drunk anywhere in a public place in London.

PC Barry Cilia, an Asbo officer stationed in Hillingdon, said: “This post-conviction Asbo was obtained after shopkeepers, landlords and residents provided statements in support of it. It gives a clear message that the community will not tolerate anti-social behaviour.”

O’Neil was found carrying a carpet knife blade at The Good Yarn pub, in High Street, Uxbridge, on February 21.

He denied the offence when he appeared in court on May 29 but was found guilty.

The case was adjourned for sentence until Monday, June 24, when Uxbridge magistrates imposed a nine-month community order on condition he enters an alcohol treatment programme. He was also put under curfew for three months and will be electronically tagged.
