A WOMAN set fire to a wooden plinth outside a temple in a 'cry for help', a court heard.
Lucy Richards started the fire outside the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, in Byfield Road, Isleworth, on April 7.
The 27-year-old, of Shrewsbury Walk, Isleworth, admitted one count of arson and at Feltham Magistrates' Court last Thursday (June 27) was given an 18-month community order, including three months of supervision.
Roy Pershad, prosecuting, said police were called to the scene after Richards threatened to set fire to herself.
Ariane Adam, defending, told the court that by the time officers arrived she had already started the fire, damaging the plinth and a small patch of grass, and put it out herself.
"She's aware her actions could have had much more serious consequences but she was very depressed and isolated at the time and this was a cry for help," added Ms Adam.
