POLICE investigating the murder of a man in Hayes last week have made an arrest.

The homicide and serious crime unit visited an address in Blyth Road, Hayes, on Friday morning following a tip-off from a member of the public.

They found a man in his 30's who had apparently been stabbed several times and was later pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for much of the day as forensics officers began combing the area for evidence.

A Metropolitan Police statement read: "A 32-year-old man was arrested at approximately 9pm on Friday in connection with this investigation. He has been taken to a central London police station where he remains in custody."

A post-mortem will take place in due course at Hillingdon Mortuary.
