A MAN has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Wembley today, which resulted in a death.

Police were called to St John's Road at around 2.20am following reports of an assault.

When police arrived they found a man in his thirties suffering from serious head injuries.

He was taken to a north-west London hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police believe the victim had been involved in a fight with two men before the assault happened.

Formal identification of the man who died has not yet happened, and next of kin are due to be informed.

A post mortem was scheduled to take place at Northwick Park Hospital this afternoon.

Aninvestigation into the circumstances has started, and an incident room has been opened under the investigation of Detective Inspector mark Lawson of The Homicide and Serious Crime Command.

A 39-year-old man was arrested at an address in Wembley this morning on suspicion of murder.

He is in custody pending further enquiries.
