ARMED robbers struck the Halifax bank in King Street, Hammersmith, on Monday afternoon, forcing a security guard to hand over a box of cash.

Police later arrested a number of suspects outside a home in Banstead Close, Shepherd's Bush.

Detectives think a suspect may have drawn a hand gun on the security guard, who handed over the cash, before the assailant ran off to a waiting car.

The incident took place at about 3:15pm and a short time later witnesses reported a stand-off between suspects and armed police in Banstead Close.

Flying Squad detectives said a number of arrests were made and that enquiries are ongoing.
