TERRIFIED staff at a Hammersmith Broadway bookmakers fled to a back room after an armed robber pointed a hand gun at them and demanded cash.

The robber, who was covering his face with a hooded duffle coat, a cap and a scarf, struck at the Broadway Shopping Centre branch of Coral at about 8.20pm last Thursday.

He walked up to the counter and wielded the handgun, which was black, prompting staff members to run into a back room, at which point the assailant fled, running towards Queen Caroline Street.

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the crime. He is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall and of sticky build. He was wearing a distinctive blue duffle jacket with wooden toggles and a beige baseball cap.

Detectives from the Flying Squad based at Barnes are investigating.
