SOLDIERS paraded through Uxbridge town centre today (Monday), to commemorate Armed Forces Week.

Servicemen led the procession along High Street, Uxbridge, this morning, before stopping in the Hillingdon Council Civic Centre forecourt to raise an Armed Forces Week flag at a short ceremony.

In attendance were Leader of Hillingdon Council, Ray Puddifoot, and the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Allan Kauffman.

Mr Puddifoot said: Hillingdon has a strong association with the Armed Forces and it is important that we continue to show our respect and appreciation for what they do on our behalf."

It marks the start of a programme of events to pay tribute to those men and women who serve their country.

The world famous Central Band of the Royal Air Force, based at RAF Northolt, will be performing a free open-air concert at the Civic Centre tomorrow (Tuesday) from 5pm. A collection will be held in aid of the RAF Benevolent Fund.
