VETERANS and serving soldiers will unite to mark Armed Forces Day at a short service outside Hounslow Civic Centre on Monday next week.
Soldiers from the Welsh Guards, based at Hounslow Cavalry Barracks, will join Royal British Legion members from across the borough and Hounslow mayor Sachin Gupta for the event in the members’ car park at the venue in Lampton Road, Hounslow, at 11am.
Members of the Corps of Drums, to which Drummer Lee Rigby, the soldier killed last month in Woolwich, belonged, will also attend the service.
The Armed Forces Day flag will be raised during the service, in unison with those at town halls countrywide.
Armed Forces Day itself is next Saturday, June 29, with events across the UK allowing people to pay their respects to troops past and present.
