YOUNG people will be taught the fundamentals of Asian cuisine and hospitality at a centre that has opened in Ealing.
The Asian and Oriental Centre of Excellence, based at the University of West London’s school of hospitality and tourism, aims to help tackle youth unemployment by matching students to apprenticeships.
It is being launched by People 1st, which was set up to improve skills in the hospitality and tourism industries, with support from the Hospitality Guild, which will train unemployed people as chefs. Successful applicants will take part in a six-week pre-employment programme, to include training that covers essential skills such as customer service, food safety and health and safety.
At the end, they will have a qualification and be guaranteed an interview with a prospective employer for a job or paid apprenticeship.
