THE 2008 winner of television show The Apprentice has taken time out to offer advice to young people who could be following in his footsteps.

Lee McQueen, who went to school in Ruislip, met students from Hillingdon Training who have recently completed Young Apprentice schemes.

He said: "What Hillingdon Training is doing is superb. If Young Apprenticeships had been available when I was at school, I definitely would have gone down that route.

"This is an important stepping stone towards a successful career."

Francesca Williams, of Haydon School, in Wiltshire Lane, Northwood Hills, who completed the health and social care programme, said: "I'm so glad I have done this course, and the best thing for me was the chance to spend time in the workplace.

"I am proof that you should never give up. I know I am capable of coping with new challenges and I've also become very confident."
