A MENTAL health charity is appealing for people to share their memories of Shenley Hospital.
Mind in Harrow is looking for people to take part in a new project to create a historical record of the experiences of psychiatric patients from the last 63 years.
The Hidden Minds initiative was given £50,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Shenley Hospital opened in 1934 and provided care for residents of north west London with psychiatric problems and was closed in 1998.
The Hidden Minds project has trained 15 volunteers, some who have been mental health service users, and they will collect oral histories and study archive material.
Mind in Harrow is now calling for people to share their memories in a confidential environment.
The material collected will be turned into an exhibition which will tour Harrow at the end of this year.
They are now calling for people with memories of Shenley who want to share their memories in a confidential and safe environment to get in touch, whether they were patients, staff or carers for people at the hospital.
If you would like to get involved or to share your memories of Shenley, contact Josie Hinton, Project Coordinator, on 0208 515 7871 or email email@example.com.
