THE LANDLORD of the Chiswick pub where Ant McPartlin was reportedly attacked says the TV star is a regular and will not be put off visiting.

The I'm a Celebrity presenter was allegedly punched by a fellow drinker at the Barley Mow in an unprovoked attack while watching Arsenal play on Tuesday (March 8). According to reports, the trouble continued outside the venue.

However, police were not called to the pub, just off Chiswick High Road, and Mr McPartlin is understood to be taking the matter no further.

Landlord John Wilson today told the Chronicle he was not aware of any incident within the pub and believed the former pop star would continue to visit.

Mr Wilson said: "We are unaware of any incident but they (Ant and Dec) are regular customers and very nice people. They have been drinking here for some period of time at sporting events and are always happy to speak to customers."

The Barley Mow had its licence reviewed just over a year ago after a man was glassed at the pub following an alleged 'lock-in'.

However, Mr Wilson said it did not have a history of violence and that the glassing had occurred under different owners.

"We get a good crowd in here and this (the alleged attack on Mr McPartlin) is not the sort of thing you would associate with this pub," he added.

One resident, commenting on a local forum, said: "Ant or Dec have been going to the Barley Mow for at least 10 years - for whatever reason, they seem to like it. Like anyone else, they should be able to go into their local without getting assaulted."
