A WALL condemned by neighbours as unsafe has been demolished by a car.

The wall - which has fallen down several times in the past - separates Argyle Road and Peal Gardens in West Ealing.

It was knocked down last week, with bricks scattered across a car bonnet. A tree was also damaged in the collision. People living nearby have complained to Ealing Council that the wall was dangerous. It last fell down at the end of 2008.

A council spokesman, said: "It appears a passing vehicle hit the wall, partially demolished it and drove off without reporting the collision. As soon as we were informed, we carried out an inspection to ensure there were no health and safety issues.

"Ealing Homes will now arrange for the wall to be repaired. In the longer term, the council will investigate whether anything can be done to prevent further problems."
