RECENT reports have covered two new proposed north/south bus routes across the borough (reference as above).
Last year I proposed similar ideas at an open council meeting at Ruislip High School, where they were well received. However, my proposal did not miss out Eastcote!
The existing population of over 11,000 people of Eastcote (soon to be increased by at least 1,000 more with current new housing projects) urgently need better links to the south of the borough.
My proposal would provide an express bus route from Northwood Hills roundabout, with limited stops in Eastcote village, Eastcote shopping centre (or station), then either Ruislip Manor or The Eastcote Arms; South Ruislip; Ruislip Manor; Ruislip; West Ruislip; Ickenham; Hillingdon; Brunel University; Hillingdon Hospital; Cowley; West Drayton; Harlington; and Heathrow Airport.
In addition to giving the north of the borough a good link to the airport for the first time, it would provide direct new links from the north to the borough's only university and its major hospital.
I hope the council will review its proposal before Eastcote loses out.

But let's hope it actually happens
AS A non-driving resident of South Ruislip for over 20 years, I thoroughly welcome the proposed new bus route from South Ruislip. At last, a direct link with Uxbridge and Hillingdon Hospital.
I think it would be an even more useful route if the bus went on to Heathrow.
I hope the buses will be frequent throughout the whole day and not just at rush hour to serve the travellers to the Stockley Park offices.
Another hope is that this actually happens - unlike the proposed extension of the U1 of a few years ago.
Good luck to all those involved. ANN SHAW by email
