PLANS to open the tube 24 hours a day from 2015 were announced this week, but most of the borough will not benefit from the changes.

Yesterday (Thursday), Transport for London unveiled plans for the Jubilee, Northern, Victoria, Piccadilly between Cockfosters and Heathrow and the Central line between Hainault and Ealing Broadway to run all night.

But only the Ealing Broadway and Heathrow bound routes of the Central and Piccadilly lines respectively will be open.

The Metropolitan line will not run at all, and this is unlikely to change until at least 2019.

Twitter user @WCOMB, of WWW.Comb Hair Salon in Ruislip Manor, tweeted: "I think they should run the Piccadilly to Uxbridge. That's fairest. Ruis, Ux and places like Sudbury would get transport

"Ruislip is built for commuting that's why we have 5 stations........jeeeezzzzz. I'm grumpy"

Those in the south of the borough could benefit from an extra hour of partying by using the Central line service to Ealing Broadway, where they can pick up a First Great Western service (which runs until 2am) to Hayes or West Drayton.

Gareth Powell, London Underground’s director of strategy and service development, said: “We will initially be running night services on five lines, serving the areas where there is the highest known demand for travel based on usage of Night Bus services and night time activity on Friday and Saturday nights."

He said  an extensive improvement project on the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines, means work needs to be carried out overnight so the lines have to close.

“When this upgrade is complete we will look again at introducing night services on the parts of those lines where there is known to be demand, but we do not envisage night services on those four lines before 2019.”
