A BAKERY has been fined for fly-tipping bin bags full of waste on the street.

Workers at Afghan Bakery and Catering, trading as Afghan Bakery in Church Road, Harlesden, dumped three bin bags of rubbish outside the store on April 22 last year, May 2 last year and July 15 last year and one sack and one oil drum on July 16 last year.

Representatives for the business admitted four charges of depositing without an environmental permit controlled waste on land at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on May 20.

The company was fined £100 for each offence and was ordered to pay costs of £300 and a victim’s surcharge of £20, a total of £720.

Councillor Roxanne Mashari (Labour), the council’s lead member for environment and neighbourhoods, said: “Residents are sick of fly-tippers blighting the borough’s streets and rightly expect us to crack down.

“That’s why I’m warning anyone who fly-tips what the consequences could be.

“It won’t stop with legal action because we will also name and shame offenders as a deterrent to others who may try it.

“Brent Council is determined to clean up the borough’s streets and have our town centres as clean as possible.”
