BUDDING film-makers from Westbourne Green used an opera for their inspiration.
Fifteen students from Westminster Academy, in Harrow Road, worked for seven weeks on a project based on the atomic bomb-themed opera Dr Atomic.
After attending a performance of the opera, they worked with professional video artists Ellie Rees and David Cochrane to create their own videos on the theme of 'tension', which the students felt was the main theme of Dr Atomic.
Their videos were combined to make an installation at the school, which was presented to parents, students and staff.
Year nine student Reem Mir-Ali said: "This project was great and it gave me experience relevant to a career in media."
Smita Bora, principal of Westminster Academy, added: "I'm delighted at the wide range of opportunities available to our students to help them meet their goals and aspirations toward higher education and their future careers.
"Our students continue to impress our contacts in business, sports and the arts with their creativity and enthusiasm for learning."
Westminster Academy is planning further projects with the English National Opera based on the opera Peter Grimes.
