Lampton Academy students showed they meant business as they received their A-level and BTEC results this morning.

The A-level A*-B pass rate at the school, in Lampton Avenue, Hounslow, was 43 per cent, and 60 per cent of students got into their preferred university.

Pupils enjoyed particular success when it came to their BTEC vocational courses, with more than half the business and ICT students achieving distinctions.

Star pupils included:

Zareen Bhatti, who achieved A* in maths and chemistry and an A in history. She will read education with physical sciences at Cambridge

Jasdeep Bansal, who bagged As in physics, maths and chemistry

Karow Maruf, who achieved A* in maths, and As in further maths and physics

Saif Ahamed Masood, who scored A* in maths and As in further maths and physics

Sukhamarpreet Metla, who got A* in history and As in economics and maths.

Assistant headteacher Ray Whyms said: " We would like to congratulate all of our students and wish them well in the next stage of their education."
