An Olympic squad is set to base itself in Harrow for the 2012 games after a deal was struck by Harrow Council.

The agreement which has been signed in-principle will see some of Bangladesh's finest athletes, coaches and officials training and living in the borough for the London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Colonel Wali Ullah, head of the Bangladeshi Olympic Association (BOA), toured venues across London but was most impressed by his two day tour of Harrow in November.

During his time here he visited Harrow Leisure Centre, in Christchurch Avenue, Wealdstone; Harrow School in High Street, Harrow on the Hill; Roger Bannister Sports Centre in Uxbridge Road, Harrow Weald, and Aspire National Training Centre in Wood Lane, Stanmore.

He also dropped by Dharma Bhatki Manor in Wood Lane, Stanmore, and the home of Gilbert and Sullivan, Grim's Dyke Hotel in Old Redding, Harrow Weald, to sample the local culture.
