A DEVASTATED flat owner was left sorting through the wreckage of her home today after a fire believed to have been caused by faulty electrics.

About 20 firefighters were called to the blaze in the top floor of the two-storey building at about 10.45am.

Seema Kehar was at work when heard the news and rushed back to her home in Sandall Close, Ealing.

She said: "I'm in complete shock. I'm not sure where I will stay tonight. Now I've got to see what can be salvaged. I want to thank the firefighters. They have been really good, really helpful. The investigators think it was an electrical fault with one of the lights.

Four engines were sent from stations in Park Royal, Acton, Ealing and Willesden. The fire was under control within about 50 minutes.

A neighbour living opposite, who asked not to be named, said: "We saw smoke coming from the roof and went straight to the lady living downstairs to ask if anyone was inside.

"She said there wasn't and we couldn't do anything but stand and watch as the flames burst through the roof. That happened as the fire brigade arrived, they were very quick getting here. It's horrible and very sad. We all know each other around here and she's a lovely lady."

A fireman at the scene said he could not confirm the cause of the fire as it was still under investigation.
