Long-serving chairman of the Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust has been re-appointed for another term.

Stephen Swords, who lives in Kew with his wife and two children, will serve another two years on the NHS Trust board continuing his reign since he originally joined as chair in January 2010.

Over the past five years, the mechanical engineer, by trade, has steered the organisation through a number of major changes including overseeing the merger of the previous community healthcare services across Hounslow and Richmond in 2010 into the single organisation that now exists; and securing the NHS Trust status for the organisation in 2011.

His previous roles include chief executive and chairman of a range of companies and industries within the defence, medical, aerospace and engineering sectors.

He also has previous experience of serving on the board of NHS Richmond, and has served as a councillor in the boroughs of Richmond and Luton.

Mr Swords said: “I am extremely proud of what we have achieved as an organisation since coming into being in 2010, and first and foremost of our staff and services who provide such vital care for local people in the heart of the Hounslow and Richmond communities we serve.

"I am honoured to be reappointed as chairman of this cracking community NHS trust and will seek to continue positively influencing the provision of local, high-quality healthcare and services for Hounslow and Richmond residents over years to come.”

The appointment was made by the NHS Trust Development Authority.

Mr Swords will receive a salary of £18,621 per annum.
