A drive to find potential stem cell donors from the Indian sub-continent diaspora is taking place at a Sikh temple on Sunday.

It takes place at the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Havelock Road, Southall on Sunday (Dec 21) from 10am to 4pm.

The event, which is being organised by Delete Blood Cancer UK, is aiming to sign-up people to the UK Stem Cell Registry. It is also hoped that a match can be found for Inderpal Singh, a 25-year-old dad of two in Birmingham with leukaemia who is in desperate need of a donation in order to survive.

Urging people to attend, Mr Singh said: "It's a lifesaving thing for me. It's going to save my life and let me see my kids grow up."

Once registered, a donor's details remains on file and can be called upon at any time to potentially save a life.

Aga Chrosciel from Delete Blood Cancer UK urged people to attend. She said: "Signing up to become a potential life-saver takes a few minutes but it could lead to you saving someone's life. I encourage everyone who is able to to come along to support Inderpal's appeal and for all those seeking a lifesaving stem cell donation.”
