People with type 2 diabetes can get advice on living with the condition at a free event next month.
The ‘Living with Diabetes Day’, run by Diabetes UK, will take place at the Heathrow Park Inn, in Bath Road, by Heathrow, on September 15.
There will be information about services available for those with the disease, advice on avoiding complications like heart disease and blindness, and workshops on issues including diet, exercise and travel.
There are an estimated 19,000 people with type 2 diabetes in Hounslow. More than 300 people attending roadshows across the borough earlier this year were found to have type 2 diabetes or be at risk of developing the disorder.
Roz Rosenblatt, Diabetes UK London manager, said: "We hope the Living with Diabetes Day will give people with Type 2 diabetes in the area the information and confidence they need to live well with the condition."
Places are limited. You can register to attend at www.diabetes.org.uk/lwdd or by calling 0345 123 2399.
