“ I went to Japan for two months in August, although I did feel ill before. When I came back, I was tired and lost a lot of weight. I went to my GP and then went to hospital for a chest x-ray. The doctor saw a shadow on my x-ray and the sample showed it was TB of the lungs, which although it’s not highly infectious, can be life threatening.
“Since then I’ve come in regularly to West Mid and taken medication. My TB symptoms included coughing, loss of appetite and losing weight. Then when I started my treatment, I felt really tired, my joints ached and I was coughing all the time.
“Fortunately I’m feeling much better now. Both Faustina, and my consultant Dr Helen Burgess have been really nice and supportive. Faustina even called me at home to see if I was ok. I felt I could get in touch with Faustina easily if there was anything I wasn’t sure about.”
“After my experience I really recommend to anyone to go to your GP if you think you have TB.”
