A new flagship £2.5m endoscopy suite has been officially opened at BMI's The Clementine Churchill Hospital, in Sudbury Hill.

This new stand-alone suite is now reportedly the largest independent endoscopy facility in north London, built to Joint Advisory Group (JAG) requirements.

The 526m-sq modern Marlborough Suite replaces the hospital’s previous facility and will be mainly used by gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons and urologists.

The new facility is also now the largest endoscopy suite owned by BMI Healthcare nationwide.

It was officially opened by Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Krishna Suresh.

Commenting at the event, executive director David Henderson said: “We’re delighted that the Mayor of Harrow has officially opened our advanced new facility.

“Our new suite will enable us to greatly increase the number of procedures we can offer to patients each day, while its patient-focused design will make visiting the suite as simple and straightforward as possible.

“We’re now working towards JAG accreditation, the highest possible endorsement from the Royal College of Physicians, granted by the Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy. With the build already meeting full JAG requirements we are confident this is achievable.”

Originally built in 1981, BMI The Clementine Churchill Hospital has five theatres, an intensive care unit, and self-pay walk-in Urgent Care Centre open from 8am-8pm seven days a week.
