getwestlondon is teaming up with Northwick Park Hospital and Harrow Council once again to bring a smile to the faces of unwell children this Christmas.

Every year our readers join our Toy Appeal campaign and donate gifts which are delivered to youngsters in the paediatric ward at the hospital, in Watford Road, Harrow.

Last year, England football star Rachel Yankey delivered the gifts on your behalf, much to the delight of children and parents, and we need your help again.

Editorial director of the Harrow Observer , Kim Chapman, said: “Year after year, our readers amaze us with their generosity and compassion towards the young people who are spending the festive period in hospital.

“At Northwick Park last year, the faces of the children lit up as Rachel gave them your presents.

“It isn’t an easy time for them or their parents, so once again we ask our readers to open their hearts and donate gifts to their local libraries where they are being collected to be sent to the hospital.”

Once you drop off your donated gifts to your local Harrow library, they will be delivered by the Observer and an as-of-yet unannounced celebrity guest in December.

Jackie Waldon, manger of the paediatric department at Northwick Park , said: “Every year we look forward to the toy appeal.

“It not only an exciting afternoon for the children but it’s also wonderful for their parents and our staff too.

“No child wants to be in hospital over the festive period and the toy appeal really lifts the spirit of everyone one on the ward.”

Councillor Sue Anderson, Harrow’s cabinet member for community, culture and resident engagement, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Harrow Observer in this year’s Toy Appeal which helps to bring a smile and cheer up children who will spend Christmas at Northwick Park Hospital.

“I hope residents in Harrow will help with their generosity and kindness by donating toys.”
